Flushing Meadows Corona Park Natatorium and Ice Rink

Queens, New York — 2007
Built for the NYC Parks Department and now commonly called the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Pool & Rink, this unique 110,000 square foot (10,220 sq. m) facility houses a natatorium as well as an indoor skating rink. The pool is a full 50 meter (164 ft) Olympic size and the ice rink meets NHL specifications. The distinctive cable-stayed roof supported on two tall masts allows the clear interior spaces needed for the pool and rink. Geiger Engineers was the structural engineer for the Project and also developed a detailed erection procedure.
