The sports arena seats 15,000 spectators for a variety of sports and entertainment events. The facility is covered by a 136.2 m (447 ft) diameter tensegrity dome using the Geiger Cabledome system. The roof structure was engineered to achieve an unprecedented rapid erection/installation as dictated by Project requirements. The structure is clad with a prestressed Teflon™ coated Fiberglas® composite membrane. The roof membrane is translucent allowing sufficient natural light to preclude the necessity of artificial lighting for most daylight events. The award winning roof structure was design/built by Taiyo Kogyo, Birdair,Inc. and Geiger Engineers. The roof was completely engineered, fabricated and erected in nominally 14 months.
